INDUCTION COURSES
All people who were on the waiting list for induction courses have now been
‘processed’ and new personnel can go on a course fairly quickly, so
do go and collect your swipe card - £5 returnable deposit.
DRYING FACILITY
The lockers between the ladies changing room and the gym will soon be moved to
another part of the locker room to make way for a clothes rack for drying kit.
It has integral hangers. Hopefully cyclists with wet clothing and gymnasts and
athletes with wet towels will find it useful, so please share the space.
PHONE
We have requested that an internal phone be installed in the locker area.
EQUIPMENT
We cannot purchase any more large equipment now for financial reasons. When we
were able to ask for the money for another piece of equipment, the treadmill
was chosen as it came out as the most heavily used in the user survey.
We’re lucky to have this free facility, so please take it in turns if the
gym’s busy. Hope you will find the final set of posters to be useful.
CHANGING ROOMS
Would the men please throw away their empty shower gel bottles and not use them
to construct a piece of modern art on the ledge in the changing room!
It’s not the cleaners’ job to remove bottles, as they don’t
know if they’re finished with.
LOCKERS IN CHANGING
ROOMS
The lockers in the changing rooms are being used to store towels, washing kit
etc. These lockers are meant only for temporary storage whilst you are in the
gym, or doing another sporting activity for which you have changed clothes. All
items should be removed when you leave. If you need a locker in which to store
anything, please see Site Management who have keys to empty lockers in the
outer area. In case any of the people with kit in the changing room lockers are
away at the moment, you have until March 1st to remove all items from unlocked
and locked lockers, at which time all remaining items will be removed as lost
property during the morning cleaning period 10.30-11.30am. They can then be
reclaimed from Site Management. If you intend to be exercising during that time
and need to use a locker, please contact GUG.
Please do use these
temporary lockers for your kit so that the changing room benches, pegs and
cubicles are kept as clear as possible. We have been asked if one cubicle could
be removed to make more bench space, but structural changes are not possible.
MUSIC (again!!)
Sorry to have to remind you again, but only personal music is allowed in the
gym. Not everyone feels confident enough to ask for a “sound
system” to be turned off if the music is not to their taste or they want
to exercise quietly. We have made this rule as people have very different
tastes in music, and whether or not they want to listen to anything at all in
the gym. This way it gives everyone the chance to exercise in the way they
prefer. If anyone has a problem with this, please contact GUG.
DISTRIBUTION OF
INFORMATION
We will look into posting future information on the ICR Intranet.
Thanks for reading to the
end, GUG committee
