Dear All,

Just a couple of matters for discussion (by email first if that OK - but by meeting if you feel it necessary).

1. There has been a proposal from a committee member to change the booking rules. Primarily to allow people to book on any of the two sheets currently displayed.

This would mean that it would be possible in some instances to book on a Monday for a Friday 11 days in advance. Please circulate your views by cc'ing in everyone with your thoughts on this or on any other amendments you think might be appropriate for booking. (PS the current rule is booking no more than 7 days in advance).

2. We have been selling squash racquets for 7 years now, and I just want to check if you think this is still a good idea. The scheme was started to give people excellent deals on expensive/good quality racquets; e.g. £100 racquets for £40-50. The discount was mainly from PWP in Reigate for buying in bulk, and the racquets were up to a year out of fashion in some cases.

We have sold approx 41 racquets

1999 = 6; 2000 = 3; 2001 = 4; 2002 = 5; 2003 = 3; 2004 = 10; 2005 = 6; 2006 = 4

The sales have dropped off a little recently - and I was wondering if people are getting their own good deals (maybe via the net ?).

Please can you also circulate your thoughts on whether you think it's a good idea to keep the scheme going ?

3.  We paid Ron £20 for the 'Let' rule coaching.

I propose we write this off as a 'tutorial/coaching' service for the benefit of all members (who wished to attend - in the end it was mostly the May coachees who did attend).

4.  We made £10 on the May coaching course. This can be used to offset as suggested in the AGM the loss of revenue on the Friday coaching practice sessions.

Cheers,

Steve

Saw no need for change - never had a problem

No need to stop - had noted good deals on net

Suggest leaving as it is. Can see potential need to book longer in advance in some situations.

Continue with sales, unless they drop to zero

Consensus from replies:

1.  Booking form proposal - retain current system.

2.  Squash racquet sales - continue with non-profit making scheme for squash member only. Drop off in sales may be due to Ron selling racquets to coachees.

3.  Payment for ‘Let’ session - action sanctioned by committee.

4.  Coaching course profit - surplus sanctioned by committee as per AGM 2006.

*    A query was raised by a Squash Committee member regarding the policy of block booking off two slots (1.10 - 2.40pm) on a Friday after a Thursday night coaching session.

A proposal was made to keep the system, even though there was variable take-up of the facility, but to avoid wasting the slots we would ask members to email the coachees to find out their planned usage. The coaching course organiser would supply the email addresses of coachees to members.

There was no further debate on this, and so this scheme can be implemented. The issue can also be reviewed by request at any time.
