Squash Committee Meeting - 10 August 2010

‘Virtual’ General Meeting Conducted by Email - New Lights Coin Meter.

Committee Consensus Sought 10 August 2010

The chairman first circulated a proposal to renew the EDR Muller meter on 10 August 2010. The meter began to malfunction in early 2010 and sometimes didn’t register a coin with the appropriate units. This got worse throughout the year and the meter became totally unreliable on 12 August 2010. At this point the meter was placed on ‘over-ride’ and an ‘honesty box’ system adopted. The meter had been in use since 1998 when it was converted to accept £1 and 20p coins (unit bought in 1993).

A reserve EDR Muller meter was sent to Lesiure Controls International in November 2009 for upgrade consideration. However LCI said that the Muller mechanism was too old and incompatible with their current systems. The committee then began investigating an alternative supplier and LCI was chosen in September 2010.  The advantage is that their systems can be used in conjunction with an online booking and moneyless payment system - should the Squash Section decide to adopt one. An LCI Wyvern 2000RS + PC + MP 7KVA was fitted on 31 October 2010.

Dear All,

Just to let you know that there have been no objections to going ahead with this order.

I’ve attached the order pro-forma for your information and suggest that I pay by personal credit card and claim back from club funds.

This should give adequate insurance for any shipment problems.

The unit comes with “12 month back to base warranty”. Total cost £340.75 incl VAT and carriage.

I would propose to contact RMH works in the first instance for advice on installation.

Cheers, Steve

Subject: RE: Squash Coin Meter - ZIP Update

Dear All,

Am just forwarding the details I promised as a ZIP file.

The meter I’ve made enquiries about is the Wyvern 2000

http://lci.gb.com/Products/ProductPage.aspx?MProductID=1

If we do decide to go for a new meter then it might be an idea to have the smartcard and PC connectivity options incase we want to look at coin free options in the future.

Please circulate your views as usual please,

Cheers, Steve

Subject: Squash Coin Meter

Dear All,

Just a short note to let you know that the coin meter is playing up again.

It’s been doing so for around a year but is now becoming really unreliable and difficult to reset, so I think we need to buy a new one as discussed sometime ago.

I’ll fish out the details and circulate, but would like to illicit opinions immediately please.

I’ll stick a note on the meter tomorrow to ask people to adhere to an ‘honesty policy’ of putting in money whilst the meter is on over-ride.

Cheers, Steve
