Squash Section - Booking
and Using the Court
- To book a squash court, please write both player names and both mobile phone numbers on the
booking sheet provided in the squash court foyer. There is no longer a
charge for booking a court - this was agreed by Squash Committee consensus
in October 2021 (see VGM 21.10.21)
[The
previous booking sticker system was abandoned in October 2021 (post
COVID19). Stickers were previously charged at 50p and were available through various vendors - see Sticker and Ball Sales]
- There is no
booking sheet for weekend play. When players attend they take a
chance that the court is free. The weekend booking sheet was discontinued
because bookings stopped.
- ALL slots can be booked up to ONE WEEK (7 days) in advance
(introduced after AGM 27 Feb 2003).
- All play slots are 60min to allow for 40min of play time and cleaning/turn-around
(post COVID19 committee decision August 2021) [Previously 40min - introduced after AGM 27 Feb 2003]
Court lighting (playing fee) is charged at 2 pounds per play
session (60min post COVID19 committee decision August 2021) [Previously 40min slot - increased AGM 21 May 2009]
- Lighting is activated via a coin operated meter
which currently accepts 2pound, 1pound and 20p coins.
- Booking the court will be acknowledged by 'crossing-off' the booking slot (one/two lines
through it) anytime after it is stuck to the booking sheet. 'Crossing-off'
can only be conducted by approved committee members. [Previous sticker system Committee Meeting 08 May 2003]
[The
previous sticker system is considered by the section to be a privilege
means for members to book courts. A booking fee is therefore levied for
this privilege, so once the sticker had been placed on the booking sheet,
the booking is effectively confirmed. We therefore ask members not to
abuse this booking privilege by trying to re-use stickers. Any slot found
with a re-used sticker will be deemed by the committee to be an illegal booking]
- If a slot is not required then the booker may
write 'FREE' in the slot to indicate
such.
